Today is the first day of National School Counseling Week. The theme of this year’s week is “School Counseling: Helping Students Thrive.” Thriving means growing, succeeding and feeling fulfilled in all areas of your life. School counselors can help students achieve that. School Counselors help students thrive in academic growth, emotional well-being and career exploration.
• For example, thriving academically means setting goals, staying motivated and finding joy in learning. School Counselors can help develop strategies to be successful academically.
• Thriving emotionally means feeling balanced, resilient and supported. If you’re feeling stressed or anxious, School Counselors listen and help navigate feelings and emotions.
• Thriving in your future means understanding strengths and passions. School Counselors help students explore different careers and plan for a future that excites them.

Mrs. Sain’s class participated in an abstract art lesson with children’s author – illustrator and artist, Mo Willems, as part of #CrayolaCreativityWeek. We are hoping we are selected to win a George and piggy prize pack that includes Crayola art supplies!
It’s Anthony Gooch’s day to shine! He earned his 100th DOJO point today for being a star student and was rewarded with lunch from Jacks. Way to go, Anthony!

Mrs. Jacks's students started constructing pinball machines from cereal boxes today in order to show Newton's laws of motion in action during tomorrow's class time.
Mrs. Sain’s class earns Dojo Points for working hard, being a good listener, and helping others. When a student earns 100 points, they are rewarded with lunch from a local restaurant. Today Te’Onna Roger’s earned her 100th point and chose lunch from Jack’s.

All Seniors Should complete this as part of their requirements for college and career readiness. During this FAFSA Day event, participants will leave the appointment with FAFSA completion and MAAPP completion.

Shoutout to our talented art students who put their creativity on full display! 🎨✨ They've designed and created some amazing mascots for the district basketball tournament, to bring even more spirit to the game! 🏀🔥 We’re proud of their hard work and dedication. Make sure to check them out while supporting our high school teams during the tournament on February 4-7, 2025 at the Water Valley High School gym. Ms. Katherine Montague is the art instructor at Water Valley High.
Miss Howland's students are working on the Design Process. They are deciding how to take feedback for app design and use it to make improvements for users of the app. The students are organizing the feedback into categories for improving the design and then planning out which improvements they want to focus on. They are then drawing new screens that include all of their improvements to help the grandparents use the app efficiently! Miss Howland dressed for today's lesson.
Mrs. Jacks’s students embarked on an intergalactic journey today. They learned about constellations by building their own with marshmallows and toothpicks, creating beautiful models with pipe cleaners and beads, and used an app to explore the night sky. Students also created a constellation projection using flashlights.
