Chasity Logson was named Davidson Elementary Teacher of the Year for the 2023-24 school year. Shown with Mrs. Logsdon are DES Principal Lee Gray and WVSD Superintendent Drew Pitcock. The administrative staff of Davidson Elementary School is pleased to announce the 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Chasity Logsdon. Mrs. Logsdon was selected for this honor via a school-wide voting process that included many capable and deserving educators. Logsdon has a degree in Elementary Education from The University of Mississippi and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Dyslexia Therapy from the University of Southern Mississippi. She has taught at Davidson Elementary a total of eleven years. During her tenure at DES, she has taught kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade and currently teaches 2nd. Chasity is married to Rilee Logsdon, and they have a dog named Jack. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, watching murder mysteries, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Logsdon is clearly dedicated to helping children succeed. She devotes most of her waking moments helping children in many different ways: She can be found tutoring students in her classroom early in the mornings long before school begins for the day; and long after the school day has ended, she can be found packing "love packs” for students who need extra food to get them through the weekends. When asked her favorite thing about teaching 2nd graders, Logsdon replied, "Seeing the growth they display from the beginning of the year until the end, and how they develop classroom relationships cheering others on to success." When asked to explain her "why" or what motivates her to do what she does, she said the following: "The KIDS are my 'why.' I want them to be successful and feel like they are important. I want them to know they are loved and supported. I want them to know someone is in their corner, cheering them on. Hopefully, they will remember this and do it for others and give back to their community someday." For these reasons, and many more, Mrs. Chasity Logsdon is the 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year for Davidson Elementary School. She has something that cannot be "taught" or "bought": a heart for children--and we are thankful she chooses to share her heart and time with Davidson Elementary School children.
