DES students have been learning about the Elements of Art this year in their art activity class with Mrs. Winters. The first element they learned about was “lines”. PreK-2nd used different kinds of lines to make a “Scribble-Saurus Rex” and 3rd-6th grade students used lines to make a “Bad Hair Day” drawing.

Labor Day
As follow up from earlier this week, Mrs. Sain's class learned it took teamwork to pull The Gigantic Turnip out of the ground. They had a fun activity of cooking fresh veggies in the crockpot, including, of course, our own gigantic turnip!.

Mrs Dalton’s high school Human Anatomy and Physiology class began a study of the Integumentary System yesterday. The purpose of the lab was to determine each student’s unique fingerprint pattern and study the distribution of patterns among the classroom population. They learned that the papillae is the top of the dermis and responsible for fingerprints.

This month at DES students have learned about the character trait, kindness. Mrs. Sain’s students read the book The Gigantic Turnip by Aleksei Tolstoy. In the story, many characters show kindness through helping each other harvest a Gigantic Turnip. After multiple readings of the story, they did a guided drawing of root vegetables.
