Art II and III students have been putting together some beautiful works. Students blended precise colors to paint each individual part and cut out paper so that each carefully shaped piece accents the overall design.

We are so proud of Water Valley High School senior Anika Olson who was selected to participate in the Mid-South Honor Band. She got to perform with students from all over the state and put on a fantastic concert today.

This week DES 3rd-6th graders are wrapping up their Winter Silhouette project in their art activity class. They started this project by making Northern Lights inspired backgrounds with bleeding tissue paper. Students then sketched their silhouettes before transferring them to their backgrounds with permanent marker and paint. The kids have worked hard on these pieces for several weeks and they turned out beautifully
WVHS Art I students have been learning about Roman mosaics. Students were tasked with using the colors and textures found in magazines to cut into tiny pieces and then assemble something new and beautiful. Featured student works were made by: (top row) Maggie Hill, Manuel Domingo Pablo, Layth Fadel, (bottom row) Baylie Terry, SaRyah Caldwell, and Taylor Snider.

Former WVSD school board members, Dr. Steve Edwards (wife, Dawn) and Cayce Washington (wife, Michelle) along with Drs. Hunter and Taylor (wife, Madison) Edwards purchased pullovers for all employees of the Water Valley School District.
"The hard work of each employee from the superintendent to the bus drivers is evident with the recent school rating increases. We wanted every employee to know we appreciate their efforts. We are anxious to see the continued growth in the school ratings," states Dr. Steve Edwards.
Modeling the jackets are Water Valley Junior High teachers; Kristen Ingram, Carlyn Allen, Bonnie Keene, Allison McCain and Julie Dalton.

Mrs. Logsdon’s students love Lego Friday. This week students worked together to create a bridge. Thank you to Mrs. Pamela Redwine for coming in and working with us.
Water Valley High School students attended Tim Tebow’s Foundation Night to Shine event held at Oxford Conference Center on Friday night.
With a team total of 72 points, the Lady Devils PowerliftingTeam won their district tournament today at home. All twelve lifters will advance to North Half competition in early March.
The Lady Devils are coached by Vaughn Daniels and Avery Norris.

DES PreK-2nd graders are wrapping up their “Snowy Trees” project in their art activity class this week. The kids spent two weeks exploring different art mediums to create unique painted paper. Then they cut their paper into triangles, glued them to their backgrounds and added snow.
