DES Book Fair

2024 Track Schedule

Presidents' Day Holiday

Coach Bernadette Sayles's geography students put on a gallery walk in honor of Black History Month. Students filled trifold boards with information about trailblazers, including abolitionist Sojourner Truth, Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders, tennis player and golfer Althea Gibson, scientist George Washington Carver, and many more.

Mrs. Jacks’s classes learned about constellations and how the constellations appear to move throughout the seasons. The students made their constellations using marshmallows and toothpicks. Students also made constellations on card stock paper. With this paper, they hole punched the holes(stars) out and used a flashlight to shine them on the wall, creating a projection of their constellation. They also talked about why the sun appears to be brighter than any other star.
