
Congratulations to Water Valley High School senior Angelina Whitten. She will further her academic and cheerleading career with Itawamba Community College. She signed her committment to ICC earlier today. Shown with Angelina are her parents Bill and Shasta Whitten and Cheer Coach Whitney Allred.


On Tuesday, December 12th, a team of local business professionals donated their time to participate in a Writing Gallery Walk at DES. The team was given a copy of the MS informative writing standards for grades K-6 in order to see the progression in level of difficulty through the grade levels. Beginning at the kindergarten classrooms, the team looked at writing from all students in grades K-6. Student representatives from each class met with the team and answered questions about the writing process and what they had learned about their topics.

Law and Public Safety students are learning to fly drones for use in various first responder career fields. Drones can be used for things such as search and rescue, evidence location and recovery, post-disaster scene size up and recovery, wildfire attack and evacuation planning, as well as a variety of other purposes. The Students of Davidson Elementary will present a Christmas Concert tonight beginning at 5:30 P.M.


On Saturday, December 9th, the WVHS Robotics Team- Twisted Circuits- won the Design Award for their robust and unique build of Twistie 5.0 at the Tupelo Qualifier. The two man team, Nethanel Dunn and Braxton Ferguson with help from mentor, Peyton Ferguson, ranked #4 during Alliance Selection, out of 10 teams. Twisted Circuits wants thank everyone for their support! The next Qualifier will be in Grenada on January 27, 2024.

The Water Valley Band had two students, Skylar Jordan, and Mallory Tidwell, selected to perform at the Mississippi Bandmasters Association Honor Band. They were able to perform with musicians from all over the state of Mississippi in a great concert on Saturday we’re proud of our students and what they accomplished.

DES assistant principals Melinda Allen and Lee Gray recently rewarded 3rd grade math teachers Makiyah Lamberth and Stephanie Townes with a “lunch of their choice” for their almost perfect attendance during the 2022-2023 school year. The December Character Breakfast celebrated the character trait of Compassion. Students were selected by their homeroom teachers for this honor. Water Valley First Baptist Church Youth Minister Colton Horner spoke to the students and their family.
