This week the 2nd year students of the Law and Public Safety program began a Homeland Security certification course in Overland Search and Rescue (OSAR) taught by Water Valley Fire Department Chief Mark McGavock. So far this week they’ve started the basics including reading a topographical map and using an orienteering compass to plot and navigate a land course. Later in the course, they’ll be taken out into a wooded area to practice the skills they’re learning. Chief McGavok has always been a huge supporter of our students and this program and we are so appreciative of his willingness to give so freely of his time

Mrs. Jacks’s students worked together to make a delicious edible mixture. They have been learning about mixtures and solutions this week. After creating the edible mixture, students used their math skills to create a bar graph showing the amount of each ingredient received per group.
