WVHS Students of Excellence for 1st Nine Weeks During the 1st nine Weeks - these students exemplified the nature and characteristics of the PBIS standards for Water Valley High School. Congratulations to these students in this great accomplishment.

On September 30th, the senior class participated in the Oxford/Lafayette College and Career Fair. Students engaged with more than 70 representatives from colleges, businesses, and industry organizations who provided information on employment, job shadowing, internship opportunities, and academic programs.

On October 14, 2025, an elementary student made a bomb threat to some classmates. Upon being notified, we immediately contacted the Water Valley Police Department and Fire Department and evacuated the building the student had been in. Law enforcement quickly brought in a bomb-sniffing dog from the University to sweep the campus and ensure the threat was not credible. Classes have resumed as normal.  We are thankful for the swift response from our local first responders and for the cooperation of our staff and students during the evacuation. The safety of our students and staff will always remain our top priority.

The Water Valley High School Marching Band attended the MHSAA State Marching Evaluation. The color guard, percussion, and drum Major Jordin Weir all received Superior ratings. The Band’s overall performance received an Excellent rating. Wes Brown is the Band Director for WVHS. We are so proud of their accomplishments this season.

The Water Valley High School Marching Band attended the North East Community College Marching Festival. The band received Superior ratings. The color guard and drum Major Jordin Wier also both received Superior ratings. The Drumline received Excellent ratings. We are extremely proud of the hard work and continued success of all of our band students!

DES had a school-wide “Narrative Writing Gallery Walk” this morning. The “gallery” was much like an art exhibit; except instead of art, student essays were displayed throughout the school. Some of Water Valley’s business and community leaders were invited to tour the school, learn about the MS-CCRS writing standards, and see the progression of writing from kindergarten through 6th grade. Teachers and students have been working hard this past 9 weeks using the “R.A.C.E.S.” writing strategy to compose their narratives. K-2nd grade’s decorations corresponded with the story they read, but 3rd-6th had an “Off to the R.A.C.E.S.” Nascar theme. Student representatives from each class were selected to speak with the adults who came to see the gallery.

The first year students of Law and public safety finally got to put their drone pilot’s license to use. Each student successfully completed their first orientation flight by flying different courses at differing altitudes while learning how to operate the camera and moving through a three dimensional space on the x, y, and z axis.

The Water Valley Marching Band attended the Crossroads Classic Festival and Competition. During the ratings portion of the event-the band, color guard, and drum major Jordin Weir all received a superior rating. The drum line received an excellent rating. During the competition portion of the event, the band and color guard both received 3rd place in the 2A division and the Red division. The WVHS Band is under the direction of Wes Brown and color guard is led by Jackie Egdorf. The Water Valley School District is extremely proud of all your hard work and accomplishments—way to represent WVHS with excellence!

WVHS Yearbook staff also celebrated the faulty who participated in HOCO Dress Up days.
